Lake Health Management: The Special Assessment District (SAD) which provides funding for aquatic management of our lake was renewed for seven years (Dec. 2019 – Dec. 2025 winter tax bills) by Cumming and Hill Townships. The overall health of Henderson Lake is A-Rated in large part because of funding from the SAD. Invasive species of weeds (Eurasian Water Milfoil, Starry Stonewort, Curly Leaf Pondweed, etc.) found anywhere in the lake, and nuisance weeds only along the developed shoreline out to five feet of water depth are being treated. Please see HendersonLake.org for downloadable copies of all the various reports and studies.
Loon Report: The Loons nested twice this year! The first nest was in the canal area at the north end. It was attacked early in the season by predators, so the loons re-nested several hundred feet east of the single dock at the south end of the lake. They hatched two chicks, however, only one survived. As of this writing, both adults, and the now adolescent, are still fishing and feeding all around the lake. Please caution your guests to stay several hundred feet away from the loons.
Henderson Lake Fishing Club Update: Both Catch & Release Bass and Pike Fishing Tournaments / Fundraisers were successful. Both events also served as a great way to meet fishers from around the lake during the awards “ceremony” and 50/50 raffle drawing at their conclusions. The Catch & Release Bass Tournament was Saturday morning, June 8 and netted $470 to HLFC. The quickly scheduled Pike Tournament was Saturday morning August 17 and netted $330 to HLFC. The Pike event was a late idea of HLFC and intended to help control the number of Northern Pike in the lake. Pike of legal limit (24”) were encouraged to be kept. Winterfest 2025 will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025, so hold the date! Finally, there are still some flip-top 12 ounce can holders available through HendersonLakeFC@gmail.com

- Practice CATCH AND RELEASE! Please don't keep all that you catch.
- Please do not blow grass clippings or fall leaves into the lake. They add to the vegetation load which the Weed Control Program is in-part trying to combat.
- Keep a rake-by-the-lake to remove / clean-up weeds that wash ashore. Milfoil spreads by fragmentation, so get weed fragments away from the water.
